In the new The Avengers franchise film, directed Taika Waititi shows the story of Loki portrayed by Tom Hiddleston. The Marvel character based off of the same named mythical character was born a Frost Giant. His father abandoned him as an infant, later to be found by Odin. Odin, god and biological father of Thor and former king of Asgard used his magic on Loki to make him appear as Asgardian (citizen of Asgard, a fictional realm and capital city).

The sixth film of the series goes just a little bit further than the adoption story of Loki. The opening scene of the film shows the viewer the birth of Loki, which takes place in a foreign environment with a subartctic climate. The birthplace itself is shown as a sauna, with steaming water sizzling on scorching Jotunheim rocks. Kylmästo was the only suitable place for the location scouters to transform this mythological scenario into 4k magic.
